Ethan comes marching home

In about twenty four hours, a US Airways plane will touch down in Phoenix, having originated at JFK. Ethan will be on it, the final leg in his five week trip to Paris. I’ve fixed deviled eggs for the occasion. I won’t quite relax until he’s back home and here’s why. We’ve got terminal changes, boarding passes, mostly luggage worries and the thousand other little bitty things that can throw things off-kilter. Jet lag, to be expected, easily enough remedied. In twenty one hours from Paris all the way to Phoenix, Arizona. Think about it.

I have a lot of thoughts about travel but I’ll save them for another post. I will always be gratified that Ethan had the opportunity to do this. It is something he will always have, whether or not he ever sets foot outside the United States again. And it will add to his college experience. It will make it much, much easier to adjust to college life in Eugene, Oregon.

Most of all I hope he knows he was missed, thought of fondly and is very, very loved.
